After an unfortunate incident, I ended up being admitted to Carla's facility as a patient. She introduced herself for the first time and explained to me her role at Encompass Harmarville. She greeted me with a warm smile, which immediately put me at ease, and treated me as if I were family. She could tell I was apprehensive about something and started a dialogue with me to try to figure out my concern and fear. I explained to her that I just had apprehension regarding having to be bathed by someone else, despite my drastic need for a shower. I felt very vulnerable, mostly due to my insecurities, because I am overweight. Carla was very compassionate, understanding, and sympathetic to my concerns and immediately started to validate my feelings. In the end, I successfully completed my shower, and I felt like a new man, as it had been eight days since my last shower because I was previously a patient at another hospital, where I did not receive any type of bathing. To this point, I had taken camp showers with baby wipes. I truly was grateful for Carla taking an interest in proactively addressing my concern.
