Dottie is truly an angel sent from case management heaven! In just one year at ECH, she has shown tireless dedication, reliability, and a deep understanding of the complexities of case management. She is approachable, compassionate, and always willing to help.

Her commitment to patients and families is extraordinary. She once ran across the hospital to deliver a backpack to a homeless patient about to leave in his Uber. On another occasion, while rounding, she noticed a patient who had suddenly stopped breathing and immediately called a Code Blue—her quick action was lifesaving.

Beyond these moments, her daily work speaks volumes. She spends countless hours preparing patients and families for safe, successful discharges. For the past year, she has worked closely with one particularly complex patient and his family, navigating frequent readmissions with patience and persistence. She met with the patient’s wife repeatedly to explain home health care, order supplies, and ensure continuity of care. Even months after discharge, she fielded emails and phone calls, continuing to provide support far beyond expectations.

When this patient recently passed away, Dottie once again showed her compassion. Even though there were no case management needs, she went to the ED to comfort the patient’s wife and offer emotional support. She continues to check in with the family, coordinating equipment removal and next steps with kindness and care.

Since her arrival, Dottie has spoiled us with her expertise and unwavering commitment. For nurses, knowing that Dottie is on the case means reassurance that discharges will be smooth and patients will be set up for success.
