He has shown me that education has to be customized for each student, while keeping the highest standards to ensure each student becomes a safe, competent nurse.
Kent Gory, RN, MSN, has shaped the landscape of Delaware nurses by teaching over 500 LPN students. Kent has been the lead educator, director, clinical educator, and chaos coordinator for this amazing LPN program since 2007.
Kent has a kind a gentle soul. He is the most giving and caring nurse I have ever known. He can navigate a stressful situation with ease and is always showing others how to problem solve with grace. I had the pleasure of being a student of Kent's in the very first LPN class of 2008. He is still the voice I hear in my head when any basic nursing task comes up.
I then had the pleasure of working alongside Kent for the last three years at Polytech. His approach to nursing education showed me how to teach with grace and unwavering kindness. He has been a role model for me as a newer educator. He has shown me that education has to be customized for each student, while keeping the highest standards to ensure each student becomes a safe, competent nurse.
Kent is set to retire from Polytech in December. He leaves behind an amazing legacy, and Delaware is so lucky to have had him educate many of our nurses. Even in his retirement, he has offered to volunteer to assist with renewing the ACEN recertification for our program. He is the epitome of caring and kindness.
