Jess’s calm, caring energy turned what could have been a scary situation into one filled with comfort and familiarity.
When my daughter was born at just 29 weeks, Jess was so warm, welcoming, and compassionate throughout my daughter’s care, and she instantly made me feel at ease during my visits. Jess advocated for me to start breastfeeding my daughter because she knew how important that was to me.
After our first attempt, she was so genuinely excited. It felt like we had our own personal cheerleader in our corner, rooting for us. In that moment, I felt proud, empowered, and like I was doing enough for my daughter. There were many times I struggled with feeling like I wasn’t doing enough. Jess had this incredible way of reassuring me that my presence and love mattered more than I realized.
Her kindness and understanding made me feel like a good mom - something I desperately needed to hear during such a hard time. When my daughter unexpectedly had to return to the NICU for treatment, Jess greeted us with the biggest smile and made me feel instantly comfortable. Jess’s calm, caring energy turned what could have been a scary situation into one filled with comfort and familiarity.
The NICU team, and especially Jess, will always hold a special place in my heart. Over the 56 days my daughter spent in their care, they became like family to us. Their support carried us through one of the hardest times in our lives, and I will be forever grateful.
