Her support was not only clinical, but profoundly human.
My story began in 2019, when I suffered a tibial plateau fracture and compartment syndrome, which led to a fasciotomy. I was initially treated in Concepción and then referred to the Hospital del Trabajador in Santiago, where I faced a long and painful recovery process, with multiple surgeries and hospitalizations. At that time, the doctors gave me a very discouraging prognosis: there was a chance I might never walk again.
Throughout that entire process, Ms. Gissele Morales, TENS, was a fundamental figure. Her support was not only clinical but profoundly human. We traveled together from Concepción to Santiago every month for my follow-up appointments. She assisted me with transfers, accompanied me in a wheelchair —even through airports— and, most importantly, she held me emotionally when I felt I couldn’t go on. She was the only one who gave me the encouragement and support I needed, even when everything seemed lost.
Thanks to her constant support, kindness, and professionalism, I found the strength to keep going. Today, despite the prognosis I once received, I can walk on my own and stand on my feet —something I once believed impossible. And I know that this was possible in great part because Gissele believed in me even when I couldn’t believe in myself.
I now attend follow-up visits only every three months to pick up medication, but I have never forgotten that it was her companionship that helped me get through one of the hardest stages of my life.
Gissele Morales is an exceptional professional with deep vocation, empathy, commitment, and humanity. Her work went beyond clinical care: she was a true companion on my journey.
