Layahnna went above and beyond expectations by taking the initiative to prepare and conduct a nursing group with the entire unit.
Layahnna shows up for clinical every day with a positive attitude that is receptive to learning and actively engaged in maximizing the learning potential of the experience. She takes the initiative to seek out experiences at the clinical site. I was very impressed wth her eagerness to interact with clients on the unit, and she always left a positive therapeutic impact on the milieu.
An example of her outstanding clinical performance was observed on the adult depression unit. Layahnna went above and beyond expectations by taking the initiative to prepare and conduct a nursing group with the entire unit. She was not assigned this task, and she had no responsibility to do so. She simply decided to challenge herself, and she did an exceptional job. I witnessed her conducting this group. I was surprised that she managed to get every patient on the unit to attend and participate, which is no small feat.
The response from the clients was entirely positive, and each one of them reported learning and benefitting therapeutically from participation. When I talked to the clients later, they all had kind words about the group, Layahnna, and her peers. Layahnna has a bright future in nursing ahead of her and should be commended for her attitude, initiative, and therapeutic performance.
