I would like to recognize and give a big shout-out to one of Mercy’s ER nurses, Ashley Cyparski, for her exemplary actions while she was at Cook Forest during a proposal (her proposal; how exciting). Moments later, they discovered a female in distress, lying in a ditch after she had fallen off an electric bike. Ashley’s quick and decisive actions to immobilize the woman’s neck and call for help saved her life. This was a remote area, and the female had been lying there for hours, unable to move, in and out of consciousness, and with no one in sight. This female prayed that God would send someone to find her. Well, God answered her prayers and not only sent her one person but two people, and how perfect that it would be a paramedic nurse, Ashley, and her fiancé, an EMT. They are what I call angels on earth.
The female who had the unfortunate accident has been in spinal cord rehab at UPMC Mercy and is doing great, and is due to be discharged soon, but as fate would have it, not before being reunited to meet her angel, Ashley. It was an overwhelmingly emotional reunion. What a caring, compassionate, nurse Ashley is. I also suspect they will have an everlasting bond from here on out.
