Brittney is truly the definition of an extraordinary nurse.
My 85-year-old mother was admitted to the hospital for about two weeks. Brittney was the first nurse she had, and the moment Brittney stepped into the room, you could tell she was a very special person. She addressed my mom as "Miss B" and had such positive energy that it uplifted my mom's spirits.
My mom introduced me to Brittney as not only her nurse, but also that they had become friends. My mom was in a lot of pain when she arrived, and Brittney treated her with care and compassion. She went above and beyond to make sure that my mom was comfortable every time she was with her. My mom has difficulties swallowing larger pills, and Brittney was able to get her to swallow them and cheered her on.
As family members came in to visit, she made us feel welcome, and when we had questions, Brittney was sure to get us answers, and it was usually very quickly. My dad, who has dementia, visited my mom the first couple of days, and again, Brittney addressed him as "Mr. B" and was so good with him. My mom used to be a beautician, and she kept complaining about how bad her hair felt. Brittney came in one day and washed my mom's hair while she sat in her chair. My mom felt so much better that her hair was clean.
My mom joked with Brittney and said that if nursing didn't work out, she could go and work in a salon. On one of the last days my mom was in the hospital, she had a meltdown and started crying. Brittney sat on the side of my mom's bed and talked to her until she felt calmer. Being the daughter, I couldn't have asked for a better person to take care of my mom.
Brittney is truly the definition of an extraordinary nurse. Anyone who is under Brittney's care is lucky and will leave the hospital remembering a very special, caring, and respectful person.
