I'm so thankful to have Bre in a leadership role on our unit! Her authenticity, energy, commitment, and empathy are exceptional!
Bre Helman is an excellent manager and leader of her team. She is an effective communicator and a strong leader, and always uses a thoughtful approach when delegating tasks, but she is also willing to do the work herself when others are busy with their patients, setting the tone for a positive work environment. She works to balance the needs of the unit and the safety of our patients by communicating through weekly emails, through one-on-one conversations as needed, and through daily safety huddles.
Another team member mentioned how easy she is to talk to, and I wholeheartedly agree. Recently, Bre caught a discrepancy on my timecard by another department I work in, and Bre took it upon herself to advocate for me by filing out the needed paperwork to fix the error. I was surprised because I hadn’t even noticed the error. I felt genuinely cared for. Bre is compassionate and really looks out for the well-being of her team. Her personable, thoughtful approach to everything she does as a leader does not go unnoticed. Bre is a kind and compassionate leader. She truly cares about the staff just as much as the patients. Her encouraging and uplifting demeanor motivates the staff and fosters a positive work environment. We appreciate Bre for everything she does and for the leader that she is.

Breanna is so kind and professional. She is very complimentary and encourages her staff members. She is a wonderful manager; I so enjoy working for her.

Bre demonstrates outstanding leadership skills. She consistently shows how much she values our team, and I truly appreciate how approachable, supportive, and attentive she is. Her ability to really listen and take action makes a big difference, and it hasn't gone unnoticed.

As a new nurse, I am grateful to have Bre's leadership. Her door is always open, and she is always kind, considerate, encouraging, supportive, and transparent. And she always has good candies.
***
Breanna always gives me support and takes her time in every encounter to thoroughly explain things, so much so that I feel like she believes in my ability to learn and grow at a higher level. She is kind, sees staff as individual people, and teaches with humor and encouragement.

I'm so thankful to have Bre in a leadership role on our unit! Her authenticity, energy, commitment, and empathy are exceptional! She problem-solves and handles issues competently and proactively. In addition, she strongly advocates for her team, setting reasonable expectations and offering willing support - whether by sharing insight, facilitating connections with resources, or just by listening sympathetically. One time, I was involved in an incident at work that provoked some criticism from another department. I already knew what I would have liked to do better and was disappointed that my efforts hadn't led to a more positive outcome. Not only did Bre listen understandingly to my explanation of the situation, but she also affirmed and validated everything I had done well (which I had pretty much forgotten) and gave me some very practical suggestions for future situations that would help me as well as increase the chances of better outcomes. It is a rare gift to possess the ability to leave people feeling more encouraged after being "talked to" about something. I'm very grateful to Bre for using her gifts and talents to benefit our unit!

I recently had a family member end up in the ICU of another hospital. I called Bre the day before I was scheduled to work and told her what was going on. I asked if I could be with my family during this extremely stressful time. She not only okayed the time off, but she was also very kind and supportive to me. She genuinely showed concern for my family and me. Thank you, Bre!

We would like to nominate Bre Helman, CD Manager for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award, with the deepest appreciation for her continued leadership and kindness!
