My father is a patient of Memorial Herman Greater Heights for an intestinal blockage. All of his care team have been fantastic, and I’d like to nominate his Nurse Ellie for her exceptional care. My dad’s illness resulted in several messy bed changes, which the staff never complained about, and Ellie was amazing at changing bedsheets, gowns, and blankets - all while my 6-foot, 89-year-old father was in the bed with an Ng tube. Ellie worked quickly and carefully, not to force my father into dangerous or uncomfortable positions, and cleaned him up with a great attitude to allow him to be comfortable and keep his dignity. My dad also has extreme aphasia, and Ellie is very patient in communicating with him without embarrassing or frustrating him. She administered all his medical needs and answered all of our family’s questions about his labs and other medical issues. My sister and I always feel welcome to be in the room, and Ellie always greets us and addresses each of our requests and questions. My father has progressed so well! We are happy and hopeful that he will return home very soon because of the care he has received.
