My 2-year-old autistic son needed bilateral ear tubes placed.
Communication and verbalization were not his strengths, and he struggled significantly with any type of medical setting and with being touched. From the moment we entered the pre-op area, Stacey made sure my son was happy and comfortable, doing everything she needed, but on his time and level, and meeting him where he was at with comfort. She never pushed him, never forced him, nor us, to go beyond what my son was okay with, and made sure to explain everything in great detail.
She ensured my husband and I were comfortable while we waited with my son, and made sure every staff member who was going to approach us was aware of my son's needs and repeated herself until they verbalized to her they understood what she was telling them. She wouldn’t allow anyone near my son without a direct understanding of his needs and ensuring that they would respect my son’s needs. She turned what would have been an overly stressful and chaotic day into a smooth process for both our son and us.
