Oumeima Hassiki consistently demonstrates compassion, empathy, and dedication while caring for critically ill patients in the unit. She not only provides exceptional clinical care but also focuses on her patients’ emotional and psychological well-being.

One memorable example of her kindness was when she noticed a young woman with sickle-cell disease who appeared withdrawn and depressed. The patient’s hair was tangled and unkempt, and even though she was not assigned to her, the nurse took the initiative to care for her in a personal and thoughtful way. She asked the patient’s husband to bring shampoo, oil, and cream, then spent more than an hour gently cleaning and detangling her hair.

This simple but deeply human act brought a visible change in the patient’s mood; she smiled again and expressed how much better she felt. Her mother also became emotional, grateful to see her daughter’s spirit lifted. Oumeima Hassiki's compassion shows that nursing is not only about medical skills but also about restoring dignity, comfort, and hope to patients during their most vulnerable moments.
