She has done countless things deserving of recognition for her dedication to compassion and excellence, but tonight is a perfect example of who she truly is as both a nurse and a caring person. We had a young family come into the Emergency Department for the second time this week. One member had a problem not life threatening but progressing.

They left before their care could be complete. Concerned "JBragg" called the family and spoke to their concerns and expectations. They returned. Upon the patient’s arrival, she immediately took them back and provided care personally. I observed genuine moments of connection as they laughed and spoke openly about their ER experience. Later, when I had the opportunity to speak with them, the patient shared that he had returned because of her- because she cared.

Her kindness, professionalism, and empathy created an environment of trust and recovery in a unique and deeply human situation. Leadership is recognizing human need and responding with professional skill, whether it be a patient or a co-worker. Yet, when those skills are delivered with genuine kindness, integrity, and a comforting heart, that is the essence of true leadership.
