She helped the patient adjust the insulin pump settings and recommended manageable lifestyle changes. Today, the A1c has decreased significantly with these changes and is meeting our clinic goal.
A patient and mother today stated that the last time they were in for an education appointment, Chris went above and beyond in seeking to understand what was causing the patient's hyperglycemia. The A1c was elevated, and the family had been concerned but unsure what to do. Chris took a close look at the data and sought to understand the patient's lifestyle. She helped the patient adjust the insulin pump settings and recommended manageable lifestyle changes. Today, the A1c has decreased significantly with these changes and is meeting our clinic goal. The patient and family were ecstatic about this improvement. Mom praised Chris by name and said they love it when they can meet with Chris. "Chris seems to know what he needs, and she just understands him. We all sleep better at night when we have had an appointment with Chris." As a fellow nurse at the clinic, it was great to see that Chris's dedication had significant, practical benefits for this family. For this particular patient, Chris's actions not only led to practical improvements in the child's blood sugar and diabetes management but also boosted the patient's confidence, as he smiled and said, "That's awesome!" This is a success he can build on to continue his journey in independent diabetes management. Also, his mom clearly remarked on the impact of Chris's actions when she said, "We all sleep better at night when we have had an appointment with Chris.”
