She's a kind, intelligent, nurse that I think is the golden example of how all nurses should strive to be.
Lori was nominated by a patient for her compassion and extraordinary care.

A comment from her patient said, “I am a patient who has spent over 30 years receiving care in various hospital settings, from young pediatrics at the old Children's Hospital and through every major Kaleida Health facility in the Buffalo area. In that time, I have met and interacted with a lot of staff.

From the moment I met Lori, it was clear she was the type of nurse who bends over backwards for every patient who walks through her door. When I transitioned from outpatient care at Buffalo General Medical Center to DeGraff Medical Center, Lori took the time to learn my story. She put my mind at ease by personally calling me and working through any concerns I had, and swore to do everything in her power to make me the most comfortable possible while providing excellent and safe care.

In the time that I've known Lori, I've seen her deal with hundreds of patients. Each time she met them at their comfort level and tailored how she interacted with each individual to make them comfortable in their brief stay. Additionally, I have seen Lori handle difficult situations with both compassion and firmness that emergency situations require. She's a kind, intelligent, nurse that I think is the golden example of how all nurses should strive to be.

This application says to explain one singular moment of extraordinary, compassionate care, but Lori's care transcends that requirement. Every couple of weeks, when I go into the hospital, there is a weight off my mind that no matter what might happen when I see Lori, I know that I'm in good hands. That type of trust only comes from decades of experience, seeing her firsthand in action, dealing with difficult situations, and always putting patients' safety and advocacy above all else.

I have dealt with a lot of people in my healthcare journey. Many of them are fantastic, caring people; however, in my experience, Lori is more than that. Not only does she have the technical ability, but it's also coupled with the rare personable side that lets you instinctively know that no matter what happens, you're safe, and someone's looking out for you like you're their own.
