She encouraged us to be the parents we would be outside of this space, endlessly advocated for our daughter to do things we weren't sure were possible, and encouraged us to have fun while we were here.
My daughter has been in the NICU for 37 days and counting. We met Sue in the first week of our journey, and I am so glad we did. In a world where it is scary, confusing, and heartbreaking to become a first-time parent while your child is in the hospital unexpectedly, Sue made it okay. She encouraged us to be the parents we would be outside of this space, endlessly advocated for our daughter to do things we weren't sure were possible, and encouraged us to have fun while we were here.

I will never forget the days when we wore baby blankets as head wraps and put paper "cucumbers" on our eyes as we had a "spa day," or when she propped my daughter up on a boppy pillow and pretended it was a Corvette during a dream cruise. Those days single-handedly got us through the hardship of staying 10-12 hours and then having to leave our daughter at the end of the night.

Sue has made us laugh on the good days, held me while I cried on the bad, and shared snippets of her life with us that show us that she is not only an amazing nurse but an amazing person. Saying "thank you" will never be enough to show her how thankful we are for her and her care of our daughter. I will never forget her kindness or her dedication to her patients and their families.
