This is in recognition of Soo Jung Yoo for outstanding service in partnership with primary care in her roles as the maternity and cervical cancer coordinator. She is also the clinic's registered nurse for women's health and gynecology. I have had the pleasure of working directly with Ms. Yoo in her roles as the maternity and cervical cancer coordinators, collaborating in direct patient care as well as serving as a team member on women's health informatics projects to improve patient safety.

People - In her coordinator role as a partner to primary care, she exemplifies outstanding performance in the areas of people, process, and technology.  I have collaborated with Ms. Yoo with my female patients in need of her services at times of immense stress, and she has provided them with compassionate support, education regarding their medication conditions, and interface with needed specialists. In particular, she has provided invaluable assistance for my patients during their pregnancy, infertility struggles, and navigating women's health care with a history of military sexual trauma. From September 2024-2025, she completed 2553 progress notes and addendums attesting to the intensity of her direct patient contact in her multiple roles.

Process - Ms. Yoo has created a standardized process utilizing VA-created tools to outreach and document cervical cancer screening to ensure our patients do not fall behind on their preventative screening. Often, when I see new female patients, they have already reviewed their chart, including non-VA and DOD documentation in JLV, with prior cervical cancer screening and outreach to my patients by letter or phone when they are overdue. As a result of her efforts as well as our gynecologists and women's health PCPs, we exceed the VISN and National for eQM for cervical cancer screening in FY 2025 and we are consistently over 90%.

Technology - Ms. Yoo is very adept with the national cervical cancer screening database as well as local and national templates to manage women's health patient care. She has also been an active participant in providing recommendations for our local women's health order menu, which has been used as a model around the country for other VAs. We are collaborating with the Oracle/Cerner women's health informist to harmonize and develop their order menu. In summary, it has been a pleasure to work as a primary care partner with Ms. Yoo, RN, and she is a model for women's health nurses across the country in providing technology-driven, methodical, and compassionate patient care.
