Elizabeth’s care was not just clinical—it was healing. She helped me feel safe in the most vulnerable moments of my life.
I was an inpatient at St. Luke’s in Allentown for 9 days and 8 nights following major surgery to remove a 6.7-inch chondrosarcoma tumor. My surgery was scheduled less than three weeks after my cancer diagnosis, and my family and I were overwhelmed, frightened, and still processing the life-changing news. The procedure ended up being more extensive than originally planned to ensure that all the cancer was removed.

During this deeply emotional and physically painful time, I had the privilege of being cared for by Elizabeth Kovoor on several of her shifts. Her combination of clinical excellence, kindness, and genuine compassion made an enormous difference in my experience. Elizabeth is incredibly smart, and I immediately felt safe and confident in her care. She was consistently kind and attentive—administering my medications on time, changing my IVs as needed, and clearly communicating with the doctors. She did all this with precision and professionalism.

But what truly sets Elizabeth apart is how she goes far beyond the expected duties of a nurse. She has a warmth to her—a deeply human presence that made me feel seen, heard, and cared for in ways I never expected. She changed my ace bandage when it slipped off after surgery, brought me extra pillows to make me more comfortable, and sat with me when my mind was racing in fear. She shared parts of her own journey—how she became a nurse and moved to the United States—which created a personal connection and calmed my anxieties. She also took the time to connect with my family, providing reassurance and compassion when we all needed it most.

Elizabeth’s care was not just clinical—it was healing. She helped me feel safe in the most vulnerable moments of my life. Her empathy, intelligence, and commitment to excellence were unwavering, and I will always be grateful for the comfort and strength she provided.

She is truly the definition of a DAISY nurse.
