I am writing to express our family’s deepest gratitude to one of your extraordinary nurses, Nicole, who is currently caring for Patient M at PBMC. Patient M was admitted after aspirating in his sleep. As someone with cerebral palsy who is nonverbal, his care required not only clinical expertise but also some compassion, patience, and a deep understanding of his unique needs. Nicole embodies all of that, and more.

Since Patient M’s admission, Nicole has gone above and beyond – not just in her care for him, but in the way she has embraced our entire family. From the beginning, she has treated Patient M as if he were her own, and has made each of us feel seen, supported, and cared for in moments of uncertainty and fear. Even when we weren’t sure if Patient M would pull through, her dedication never wavered. Nicole has encouraged us to speak to him, play his favorite songs, and keep his world familiar and full of love.

We genuinely believe her presence, kindness, and encouragement have played a significant role in his progress. Every day, we look forward to seeing her. Her compassion and consistency have brought us comfort and hope. While we’ve interacted with many members of the care team, Nicole stands out. Her heart, empathy, and commitment to Patient M’s well-being are unmatched. We are endlessly grateful for her, and we wanted to make sure that her remarkable impact did not go unrecognized.
