We really did rely on Maggie, and she never failed us.
My husband was admitted in a confused state of delusion. He has Parkinson's disease and Lewy body dementia. He was diagnosed one year ago, and we have seen him decline in a very short time period. We visited him each day from 4:00 to 5:00 PM. Maggie was there every day, and we relied on her to keep us informed about how he was behaving and to support us. She never failed, did her job with compassion and concern, and truly cared for him with empathy.
It has been a very difficult and stressful time for me and my family. We have three daughters who are my main support. They come every day to visit with me. Lots of tears and frustration, and Maggie was always there supporting us. A discharge date changed a few times because a facility we, as a family, had decided on, but they would not accept him, so we had to start over. Maggie helped in every way she could, with advice and being honest about the type of care my husband would need.
We stayed positive and kept moving from day to day, hoping the next day would be better than the day before. Maggie comforted my husband and all of us. She was honest and answered questions as we had many. When we called in every morning, she would talk to me, give updates, and offer encouragement. We really did rely on Maggie, and she never failed us. She got us the help we needed.
My husband hasn't been in the hospital for only the third time this visit. He was scared, paranoid, and I have never seen a nurse so caring, and I can really tell she loves her job helping people. I can't say enough what 7 days with Maggie has meant to me and my family.
