Our birth unfolded exactly as we hoped: peaceful, supported, and joy-filled. Comfort played a huge role in making that possible.
From the moment my husband and I arrived on the L&D unit at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, we felt an immediate sense of peace and trust because of our incredible nurse, Comfort. She was not only deeply knowledgeable and confident in her clinical skills, but also remarkably attuned to our birth preferences and the emotional significance of the day.
Comfort took the time to truly listen to our hopes for labor and delivery. She respected and supported those preferences (e.g., offering the Monica wireless monitor to help facilitate more movement while laboring, knowing the standard monitor was requiring a lot of check-ins because of the movements my doula had me doing), while keeping us fully informed at every turn. She worked seamlessly alongside our midwife and doula, creating a true team environment where everyone's roles were honored and where my husband and I felt fully supported. Her ability to anticipate needs and create a calm, collaborative atmosphere made our experience so much more meaningful.
What made her care even more extraordinary was that she was simultaneously teaching a new nurse. She balanced this with such grace: guiding the newer nurse with clear, kind instruction while never letting our care feel anything less than seamless. Watching her teach with patience and excellence was inspiring and gave me even more confidence that we were in the best possible hands.

Her blend of expertise, compassion, and leadership embodies the very best of nursing. I later learned she is a multiple DAISY nomination recipient, and it's easy to understand why.
