Thank you, Britta; words can’t convey how grateful we are that you were working when we needed care and that you took time to go above and beyond in caring for us.
At 19 weeks pregnant, we learned that our baby girl had multiple rare fatal anomalies. It was a Friday night when we found out that we would lose our baby and that I would need surgery the following morning. Britta happened to be working that night, and we are so grateful that she was. Though we had just met her, Britta felt so familiar to us. Her presence was steady and calming on our most devastating day.
Just over a year since losing our first pregnancy and facing another heartbreaking loss, she made us feel understood and so deeply cared for. Britta wasn't on the team caring for us the next morning on the day of surgery, but she cared for us. She had only met us the night before, but she made sure we received a memory box for our daughter with a personalized handwritten card. We will cherish those items forever. And that Saturday morning, during her shift, she took the time to personally walk us through the hospital, and she made sure to stay with us until we were situated with the pre-op nurses. She asked if she could hug us before she left. We needed that. And we are so thankful.
Thank you, Britta; words can’t convey how grateful we are that you were working when we needed care and that you took time to go above and beyond in caring for us. Your compassion and support buoyed us. We remain hopeful that someday we will return to the Mother Baby Center for the best day of our lives and that we may be so fortunate as to have Britta as our nurse.
