Mario not only helped me heal my body but also my mind.
I was recently diagnosed with metastasis of my breast cancer, and very suddenly, my world turned upside down. I was in extreme pain, and I was no longer able to move my arms. The neurosurgeon told me I had to have two brain surgeries, and my whole life was about to change.

Fast forward to me waking up from a 12 hr brain surgery. I am scared and bound to bed with a whole new outlook on life. I will never forget. It was my third day waking up in the Neuro ICU, and I was feeling defeated. I felt like I would never get better. I was very worried about my recovery, but in came Mario, who introduced himself as the nurse who would be taking care of me for the day.

I not only want to praise him for being knowledgeable and explaining all the procedures, but he also took the time to make me feel like I mattered to him. He took the time to include my family in my care and keep all of us updated. He made me feel safe and that it was okay to be vulnerable. He shared some of his life with me, making those dreaded and long days better. Mario not only helped me heal my body but also my mind.

I had great nurses during my 9-day stay in the Neuro ICU, but I will never forget how Mario made me feel during the four days he took care of me. Not only is Mario a good nurse, but beyond being a nurse, he is a good person, always kind and compassionate. The level of care he provides is always excellent, and for that, I will be forever grateful.
