I would like to recognize Hugo for the exceptional care, compassion, and humanity he brings to his role as a nurse at UMC Hospital. During a time when I was scared and overwhelmed, Hugo took the time to thoroughly explain every procedure and answer my questions with patience and empathy.

He didn’t just do his job; he made sure I understood what was happening and, most importantly, he made me feel safe. His reassuring words and calm presence gave me the peace of mind I desperately needed. What truly sets Hugo apart is how he treats his patients. While many healthcare environments can feel rushed or impersonal, Hugo made me feel like a person, not just a patient or a number. He acknowledged my fears, respected my concerns, and treated me with dignity and kindness every step of the way.

Hugo is a beautiful example of what nursing is all about. His ability to connect, to care deeply, and to go above and beyond for those in his care deserves to be recognized.
