I struggled a lot on the 2 North unit, and Jon really helped me. I struggled with self-harm and suicidal thoughts, and Jon went out of his way to keep me safe and calm. On our third day working together, he sat with me for 40 minutes in the middle of a very busy day, and he talked to me about how much he cares about me and why he wants me to be safe.

Jon never made me feel like a burden or like I was a waste of time. He notices everything on the unit, even the small things. One day I was doing a puzzle and he came up to me and told me how proud he was that I was doing something with my hands instead of hurting myself. He also noticed what time of day I tended to get more depressed and checked in with me at that time. There was also a day when I tried to use my blanket to commit suicide, and Jon wrestled it out of my hands. I was mad at the time, but now I can appreciate what he did for me.

I will miss Jon when I go home. He really made my stay here more pleasant.
