I stayed in the Med/Surg unit for 5 days following an emergency surgery. This unexpected ordeal was challenging for our whole family, as I have two young children, ages 8 months and 3.5 years. My infant is still breastfeeding, and I did not want to lose my milk supply as a result of the surgery and hospital stay. Ashley was determined to help me meet that goal and went out of her way to provide the necessary support to ensure we could continue our breastfeeding journey upon discharge.

She washed and then dried my pump parts after every pump, labeled and stored the milk in the WACU, connected with the Lactation Center to have a full review of my medications to ensure they were safe for infant consumption, and briefed incoming nurses and LNAs at shift change about my pumping schedule, pump cleaning routine, and milk storage situation. I truly think that without her commitment to helping me meet this goal, this might have been the end of breastfeeding my infant. I am so grateful for her support.
