I observed Britney demonstrate many positive attributes of true servant leadership.
Brit joined the South ED team almost two years ago. Since taking on her role as ED Director, she has put all her efforts into improving not only the function and flow of the ED, but the culture of the team as well. She has had many obstacles in the time she has been here, but she has always taken them on with a smile and an open mind. Brit has put a significant effort into building the relationship between the pediatric and adult ED, and it has not gone unnoticed. It is obvious she cares for her team and wants the best outcomes for our patients and families.

I had the pleasure of visiting the South ED in early February. Turns out it was one of the busiest Fridays on record, so busy that the Plant Facilities team had to add chairs to the lobby/waiting area! Despite being busy, and I am sure, combating multiple competing priorities, I observed Britney demonstrate many positive attributes of true servant leadership. She was admitting patients, bringing them back into the ED herself.
She was cleaning rooms to help EVS with room turnovers, and she was doing patient rounds to ensure patients were safe and happy. She was rounding up with her team to ensure they had all the tools they needed. She was collaborating with other departments, like Plant, to ensure ED operations were running smoothly. Talk about multitasking, without skipping a beat!
When transporting a patient back, Britney was locked in arms with an older gentleman. In overhearing her conversation, she joked that it wasn't to prevent him from falling, it was to help her stay upright! It brought a smile to the patient and was a gentle and kind way of showing empathy, while strategically reducing fall risk! So, Kudos to Britney for being a positive ray of light for her patients and her team. She is an all-star! I am proud to be a part of an organization that employs leaders like Britney!
Thank you, Britney, for all you do for our patients, families, and team members!
