Every single member of the PICU team, from the cardiothoracic surgeons, attending cardiologists, and resident doctors to the nurses, nurse practitioners, custodians, therapists, child life specialists, secretaries, and everyone else, has been an essential part of the incredible care G has received. These remarkable individuals are not only highly skilled and knowledgeable, but they also go above and beyond to ensure families are involved in every step of the journey. They keep us informed, value our input, and make us feel heard and understood. They always have G’s best interest in mind and ensure every decision is made with his future in mind. They care for him not just in the present but as part of his long-term well-being. Beyond what you’d expect from healthcare providers, the team has continuously gone the extra mile to support us. They’ve brought books for G, shared coffee with us during long days, helped me connect with organizations to seek mental health support, brought us notebooks and binders to help us organize our questions, and even helped connect us to different chronic heart disease organizations and families. The list of ways they’ve cared for us is endless, and it speaks volumes about their commitment to supporting not just the patient but the family as well. We feel so blessed to have our son in such capable hands, and we cannot express how grateful we are for the love, dedication, and expertise the team has shown. We are in the midst of a challenging journey with G, who is now on the heart transplant list, and the support we’ve received here has been nothing short of extraordinary. As a former Glennon kid, I couldn’t be more thankful that we chose Cardinal Glennon for our son’s care. The people working here are far from ordinary; they are truly extraordinary.
