Her guidance was evidence-based, trauma-informed, and kind.
Dr. Nancy Delmont is a model of compassionate rigor. She holds clear academic standards while mentoring the whole student. When I struggled during a difficult period, she reached out privately with Wellness and Counseling resources and responded with steadiness and respect. She also recorded an individual video that walked through my paper with actionable feedback. Her guidance was evidence-based, trauma-informed, and kind. I left the interaction more confident, more skillful, and more determined to practice nursing with the same balance of excellence and empathy that she demonstrates every day.
Dr. D’s enthusiasm is contagious. She replies promptly, grades quickly, and celebrates progress with authentic encouragement that lifts students. Her feedback never stops at what to fix. She explains the why, links it to clinical reasoning, and shows how the skill will matter with patients and families. That clarity and joy for teaching made me want to stretch, revise, and do my best work. Her messages reminded me why I chose nursing and gave me the energy to keep going.
Dr. D notices the person behind the assignment. She checked in when my life circumstances became overwhelming, offered an appropriate extension, and pointed me to university supports without stigma. She communicates privately, protects dignity, and always uses a respectful tone. I felt seen and never shamed. Her approach creates psychological safety, which allowed me to re-engage and learn more deeply. Her collaboration strengthens the course community and reflects the interprofessional spirit of nursing.
**This is Nancy's 2nd DAISY Award!
