I would like to recognize one of the most caring, big-hearted, veteran-loving nurses I have had the privilege to work with. Beth truly deserves this honor.

She is known for her gentle phrase, “It’s ok, it’s ok,” and the way she says it instantly brings comfort. She listens deeply to our veterans, picking up on concerns they may struggle to express.

Beth has touched countless lives, but one moment that will always stay with me is when she learned that a veteran living alone had no Thanksgiving meal and no family to spend the holiday with. Without hesitation, Beth took him a full Thanksgiving dinner from her own family gathering and spent time with him that day. That is who she is—compassion in action.

When I worked on the same team as Beth, veterans would often ask, “Is this my sweet Beth?” I would smile and say, “No, it’s your other nurse,” and they would immediately begin sharing stories about something Beth did for them or how much they appreciated her.

I hear her in the hallway calling veterans back for their appointments, warmly referring to them as “buddy.” In that moment, each veteran feels seen, valued, and connected to someone who genuinely cares.

Beth gives 110%—not just to the metrics, but to the people behind them. She advocates fiercely for our veterans and empowers them when setting their health goals. Family members often share how Beth helped their loved ones learn the VVC process and how proud and excited they felt when they were able to complete a virtual visit successfully. Her patience, encouragement, and welcoming nature make a tremendous difference, especially for our elderly veterans who may feel uncertain about technology.

Beth doesn’t just impact veterans—she uplifts everyone around her. Her positive attitude and warm smile make you walk away feeling lighter, cared for, and inspired.
