Peggie was by far one of the best things that happened during my terrifying, 36-hour labor, and I’m forever grateful for her.
As a first-time mother, I was not anticipating being sent to Labor and Delivery at my 40-week appointment due to slightly elevated blood pressure. I was only 1cm dilated upon arrival and had no idea what to expect when it came to induction, let alone labor. Peggie was the only nurse to truly listen to me and take care of me, as if I were one of her loved ones. I hate being a bother, so I had refused to hit the “call” button if I needed assistance, but every time she’d leave, she’d let me know when she would return. Thankfully, she’d return on time every time, and I’d always, embarrassingly enough, need something.

Due to all of the medication, all I could tell was that I was continuously uncomfortable, but she made sure to help me change positions, remind me to put something in my stomach, stay on top of my IV, remind me to stay hydrated, etc. When some slight issues would arise, I would voice my concerns to her, and she would listen and adjust things accordingly to help better suit me. Unfortunately, I had to adjust my birth plan, but when things were uncomfortable, and I’d be opposed, she’d listen and never judge my decisions. Things would change, and she would explain everything in detail, making sure I acknowledged what she was doing and/or what would be happening. Peggie was by far one of the best things that happened during my terrifying, 36-hour labor, and I’m forever grateful for her.
