You may know Dana to have an open-door policy with candy and vent sessions. What you probably don’t know is that her phone number is a few numbers off from the dietary office. This means that every now and then, a patient will call to order an item or their entire meal. Instead of correcting them or turning them away, she takes their order and then calls the dietary office herself to place the order.

She is also known to throw birthday parties, baby showers, weddings, and more with cake and decorations. She’s even done line dancing with a fan to motivate a patient with their physical therapy. To her, these acts are small and “aren’t a big deal.” But she is allowing her patients to feel seen as humans and giving them a sense of dignity throughout their stay.

She also dedicates time to recognizing her employees for their hard work and achievements. It has been an honor to watch her become the nurse and director that she is today.
