Ami always goes above and beyond for her patients. Her dedication to helping people is a standard that we should all strive to emulate. A patient on the ortho floor was preparing to be discharged home after suffering from a fracture and a lengthy hospital stay. The patient's home was in complete disarray, full of hoarded items, and several cats had been left unattended. Ami volunteered to go and feed the cats to give the patient peace of mind. After assessing the home's condition, Ami took it upon herself to gather volunteers to help clean and declutter the home. Ami took several days off to help clean and salvage this house, creating a safe place for the patient to go after being discharged from the hospital. She not only volunteered her time but also spent her own money to rent a dumpster to help clean the house. I was so moved by Ami's dedication to help this man she barely knew. She still takes her time to help this man and asks for nothing in return. The DAISY Award was made for nurses like Ami. No one could deserve it more.
