Jessica created a positive, heartfelt moment for me on the hardest day of my life thus far that I can and will remember for the rest of my life.
Today was the worst day of my life, but the best healthcare experience I have ever had. Today I gave birth to my baby at 15 weeks pregnant. This was my 7th pregnancy, but this was the best birthing experience I ever had, despite the outcome. I knew my baby was dead, inside of me, I knew for the last 3 weeks, and was waiting for surgery. The moment I told Jessica my story, I could tell she was meant to be my nurse that day. She had tears in her eyes, which I knew she was trying to hide; she is the first nurse I have ever met who showed empathy, respect, and compassion every step of the way. Jessica referred to my baby by his gender and even asked if I had a name picked out. She respectfully referred to my baby as his name because that was my wish.

From the moment Jessica began taking care of me, I knew I was in great hands, and I was going to be okay. Jessica kept me comfortable and kept us informed throughout my entire visit. She met my needs physically, emotionally, and mentally. I had to return home today and tell my other children that their sibling has died. I feel that I have the strength to do that because of my nurse, Jessica. Jessica created a positive, heartfelt moment for me on the hardest day of my life thus far that I can and will remember for the rest of my life. Jessica cared for my dead baby and me, a grieving mother, as if we were family. She made me feel like I was her priority and the only patient that day. I would like Jessica to receive this award to acknowledge her as the nurse every nurse should strive to be. Jessica changed my life and turned the worst experience of my life into a blessed and God-remembered moment.
