There are hundreds, maybe even thousands of ways to compliment someone, but none of them feel like enough when I try to describe Bobbie. She is truly exceptional. I have never been around someone with such a rare combination of clinical knowledge, critical thinking, and genuine compassion. There is nothing you can ask her that she doesn’t know, and yet she always approaches others with humility, patience, and kindness. Bobbie is a once-in-a-lifetime nurse. The kind who inspires everyone around her to be better and do better. As a preceptor, she is the kind of teacher every student hopes for but rarely finds. Walking into clinicals as a student can be intimidating, especially when a preceptor doesn’t seem interested in teaching or in having students at all. With Bobbie, it is the exact opposite. She takes the time to explain, to demonstrate, and most importantly, to involve her students. She actively seeks out opportunities for us to practice our skills, and she does it in a way that makes you feel supported rather than judged. I often tell her, “I want to grow up to be like you,” but the truth is, if I end up being even half as good a nurse as she is, I will consider that an incredible success. Her patients feel that same impact. Bobbie always meets people exactly where they are. She takes the time to truly listen, never seeming rushed, never judgmental. Patients feel heard, valued, and cared for in a way that only she can provide. Her influence reaches far beyond students and patients—coworkers also look to Bobbie as a role model and a leader. She is the kind of nurse who makes those around her feel safe, cared for, and inspired. Northwest is incredibly fortunate to have her. Bobbie deserves recognition not only for her excellence as a nurse, but also for the way she treats people—with respect, compassion, and encouragement. She embodies everything the DAISY Award stands for, and I cannot imagine someone more deserving.
