I was life-flighted to UNMC from the Pender, Nebraska, hospital and placed in the ICU. My nurse was Lauren Sorrell, and she was wonderful! Lauren treated me like a grandmother and took super good care of me. Her service certainly meets the criteria for the DAISY Award, as she provided me with high-quality patient care and is dedicated to providing extraordinary service.
I have so much gratitude for Lauren's care. She made sure I was always comfortable and was so attentive to my needs. She was the best nurse ever, so compassionate and caring.
She treated my family as if they were her own, explaining the medical procedures I was undergoing. My daughter is a nurse and was very impressed with Lauren's compassion, expertise, and excellent care of me. She was very respectful to them.
When I was moved from the ICU, she stopped in my room each night to see how I was doing. No words can express my appreciation for her care.
Lauren was the highlight of my stay at UNMC, making it comfortable. I regret that I was unable to tell her thanks and goodbye when I was dismissed and sent back to the Pender Hospital.
However, I did send a note to Lauren, via the 5th floor, and hopefully she received it to let her know she was the best nurse ever and to show my appreciation for such great care. She is one of the best nurses ever!
