I feel a closeness to you and will never forget you for your wonderful care, kindness, and empathy.
You have been my “Guardian Angel” since March, when I started my cancer treatment journey. I met you on the first day of my first twelve chemotherapy/immunotherapy infusions. It was a rough first day for me, both physically and emotionally. You are an excellent nurse who knows exactly what to do and when to do it. I didn’t feel alone that day or any day after because you were there to help ease my fear and anxiety.
I appreciate you going above and beyond to help me through a frightening time. You explained each step and patiently answered all of my questions. You stayed by my side throughout the 12 weeks, which was very comforting. Each week, I sat in my “special chair” (#2) where I could see you working hard at the Nurse’s Station. I felt safe knowing that you would be caring for me every Tuesday and that I could see you from my chair. The “cold cap” used during my treatment required extra work, extra time, and extra attention on your part.
Somehow, you knew the timing of each step and made sure my treatments went seamlessly. Medications given to relax me actually put me to sleep. You were careful and considerate when I was sleeping. You made sure I was comfortable and warm. I enjoyed our heartfelt conversations and appreciate that you shared some of your own health journey with me. I feel a closeness to you and will never forget you for your wonderful care, kindness, and empathy. You bring years of nursing experience along with compassion and dedication to your patients each day. You work long hours and are always alert and on your toes.
Overlook Hospital is fortunate to have you on staff, as you are an asset to them. God made special people, and you are one of them. I hope that this letter expresses my heartfelt gratitude for all you’ve done to help me through the most difficult time of my life. I am fortunate that I was placed in your care on my first day of treatment. I trust you and feel secure when in your care. I’m facing the next phase of my cancer journey, which will include immunotherapy infusions every 3 weeks. I don’t look forward to the infusions, but I do look forward to seeing you. Thank you for being my Nurse! Thank you for being wonderful!
