Maria is consistently recognized by her patients. One patient wrote a poem for Maria about her ability to give the patient strength. When I talked to Maria about this, her reply was “I am here because God has put me here, in this position to heal and provide hope for her patients.”

Today, a patient shared with me, through tear-filled eyes, after taking a moment to compose himself, his experience with Maria. This is what he said:

“Maria is truly one of the best nurses ever. She combines deep clinical knowledge with skillful, capable hands. She treated me with kindness, respect, and dignity. She had to straight cath me, ands he was gentle and explained each step in detail. This is my fourth ankle surgery. I haven’t been able to walk for 2 ½ years. I have seen a lot of nurses over that period. Maria’s presence is a blessing, and she is the best nurse ever.”
