Carrie came in like an angel of healing and care. I knew a hot shower would make me feel better by just being clean. It would also help me cough some of the mucus out that wouldn't seem to come loose. Carrie came to check on me and asked if I needed anything. I asked if I could take a shower, and if it would help with the coughing. She just took care of everything that needed to be done and made it happen.

I was concerned about how I would make it standing up for a very long time. She already got me a seat. I really was afraid of trying to shower without oxygen. I didn't make it down the hallway, maybe 20 feet, without it. I hadn't even expressed my concern when she stepped out and was back in a minute with tubing running it to the bathroom. She had a tech wrap my IV. She even turned the shower on as it got hot while I got ready to get in. She anticipated what I needed done, not just to feel better but to get better.

She was confident doing what needed to be done as a nurse. Her confidence made me relax and get all the benefits of a hot shower. She took charge, got it done, and I knew I had everything I needed. I was greatly moved by her nursing skills and confidence. She is an amazing woman and an exceptional nurse. Every person who has cared for me at Lakeland has been kind and friendly, providing the care I needed. Carrie, I believe, is one of the special people who is a nurse doing what she is meant to do in a formal way that touched me much more than I imagined it would.
