I came to hospital for my induction with my second baby. Unfortunately, without my husband as my birth partner by my side. Because all our family lives abroad, it was impossible to find someone to look after our first one, so I went into labour without my better half. Niamh has been by my side as my midwife, and honestly, I couldn't wish for a better midwife and birthing partner. Niamh has been so calm during my entire labour and gave me all the emotional and mental support I needed during this time. Furthermore, she has given me the feeling that she knows exactly what she is doing, which is reflected in her calmness all the time. Which also had a very positive impact on me as a woman who is about to give birth and experiencing pain. She made sure I am comfortable and also made sure i got enough water to drink during labour and even took pictures of me and baby straight after. Just everything my better half would do, she looked after as well, besides the things a midwife looks after during birth. This is when I realised that also the little things matter a lot to her. She has not just done her job; she has gone beyond, and she is just the midwife everyone could hope for.
