I am honored to nominate Nurse Anij Alverio for the DAISY Award for her extraordinary compassion, kindness, and dedication. During one of the most difficult and emotional times for our family, Anij went above and beyond in caring for my daughter, not just medically, but emotionally and personally. From the moment she became our nurse in the Acute Center, Anij made it her mission to ensure my daughter felt safe, loved, and comforted. One moment that truly stood out was during my daughter's MRI. It was an overwhelming experience for her, but Anij stayed by her side every step of the way, offering calm reassurance, gentle words, and a presence that brought immediate comfort. Her ability to connect and soothe fear with genuine warmth made an incredible difference not only for my daughter but for our entire family. Throughout our stay, Anij consistently showed compassion, attentiveness, and the kind of nurturing care that can't be taught; it comes from the heart. She never made us feel like just another patient and family. She treated my daughter like her own, always attentive to her needs, and always quick to offer a smile, a kind word, or a hand to hold. She is a rare and special kind of nurse whose impact will stay with us forever. We are so grateful for her presence during this challenging time. She was truly a light in the darkness.
