I would like to nominate Nurse Nicholas Lopez for the DAISY Award for the extraordinary care and inspiration he provides to my family, especially my sons. From the very beginning of our journey, Nick has stood out not only for his clinical expertise but also for the joy and humanity he brings to every interaction. Nick greets us warmly every single time we cross paths, no matter the day or the circumstance. He goes out of his way to make us feel welcomed, seen, and cared for. He takes the time to bring smiles to our faces and laughter into our hearts, even during difficult moments. That kind of presence is rare and has meant everything to us. Nursing-wise, Nick is incredibly skilled. He is wise, gentle, and always careful, never rushing, always mindful. Both my son's, who have gone through countless PICC line dressing changes, say without hesitation that Nick does them the best. That level of trust and comfort doesn't come easily, it's earned, and Nick has certainly earned it. Nick also goes above and beyond to make sure our needs are met beyond the bedside. Whether it's following up with our social worker, checking on home-life concerns, or helping us connect with critical resources, Nick is always on it. If there's ever a delay or excuse from another department, he doesn't just let it go, he advocates. He doesn't take no for an answer when it comes to supporting us. He follows through every time and never lets us down. Nick has become a part of our journey. His compassion, respect, and genuine care have left a lasting impact on our lives. We are forever grateful for the light he brings.
