I brought my son to Texas Children's Hospital due to his heightened fevers and complications from immune dysregulation. During the visit, I began to feel defeated and unheard as I discussed my concerns. As a mother, I felt dismissed, and my worries were being disregarded.Thats when Chenia Knight stepped in. She saw me, she heard me, and she understood. She stayed in the room, giving me the space to share my concerns and frustrations without judgment. More importantly, she advocated for my son and for me at a time when I felt our voices werent being acknowledged. She listened and showed concern for my worries. Her presence made us feel validated, supported, and truly cared for. Chenias compassion, advocacy, and unwavering dedication to her patients exemplify what nursing is all about.
