Robbie never missed a beat. She managed situations immediately and then always took the time to make things personal.
My mother was transferred to the 4th floor unit and was immediately cared for by Robbie.

Robbie was notably detail-oriented. She was always cleaning something, watching what the CNA, tech, or resident nurse was doing. She made all of her tasks look effortless, yet she never stopped working. What was more impressive was the way she made everything that happened in the room feel like she and the resident were giving special attention to my mom. It made us as a family feel comfortable and safe. We trusted her fully with what was happening and looked forward to her returning to the shift when she left for the day.

While all the care was good, Robbie’s care and training of others was exceptional. I don’t know if we have ever had a nurse who took the time to be so thorough, communicate and answer questions, and investigate when we were inquiring about things she didn’t know about. She never made us feel like we were imposing on her, and I’m sure we were at times.

Robbie took incredible care of my mom, always checking in and making sure she was comfortable and safe. We were worried about her not having her incontinent underwear on, and Robbie assured us she would be changed as soon as she needed to be, and she was right. Robbie never missed a beat. She managed situations immediately and then always took the time to make things personal. Those moments when it could feel like a loss in dignity were moments that were personal and warm. Robbie did that.

But Robbie did so much more than that. While looking after her patient, she also helped train another nurse and a tech, sharing her know-how in every situation that arose. I am actually amazed at how much I learned from her just by listening to her tips and tricks. In fact, I used one of her tips with my mom when she transferred to rehab, and they were happy to learn that tip as well.

Robbie is not prideful. She is humble and personable, yet stoic. She made the whole team feel stronger and more confident in the work they were doing. What was most special was the way she took the time to make sure that as a family we transferred my mom without hurting ourselves. She took the time to train and coach us on how to use a gait belt, how to pivot her, and how to lift. It was the most useful information we have received. It was simple and profound.

Robbie included our family every step of the way. Lastly, she showed us ways that she gives medication, which might be easier for us once home. Again, these seemingly simple and minor details were game changers for us.

I am thoroughly impressed by the time she took and by the care she showed for every person I watched her interact with. Robbie’s kindness, encouragement, and genuine care made a tough time so much easier for all of us. She is a gift to the organization, and I am hopeful she will be recognized for her hard work and dedication. We’re grateful for everything she did.
