Lynn gives her all with each patient and every shift, never asking anything in return. She practices her craft as if it were her lifelong calling. It all comes so naturally to her because she is a caregiver from the depths of her soul.
Lynn Oliver has been a nurse for over 30+ years with a long-standing service in the specialty of Critical Care. Lynn Oliver practices Bayhealth's core values with each shift worked, each patient cared for, and each family member as well.
Lynn's compassion goes beyond measure with every patient she cares for no matter their circumstance. Lynn goes out of her way to ensure that the patient is involved, protected, and feels safe even if they are intubated and sedated. Lynn will communicate every step of what she does to and for her patient, speaking to them as if they are awake and alert, using compassionate touch and ensuring they are given the best quality of care from head to toe.
Lynn involves every family member and loved one in patient care and she begins educating them from the very first interaction. Her ability to include the family and loved ones while educating them is astounding, as she does not overwhelm them but rather turns the education into a conversation. Before they know it, they are well aware of what is going on and what to expect with their loved one's care. That is a talent all in its own.
Lynn's patient care, knowledge, experience, and critical thinking are stellar. She is often assigned the most complex of patients because she is so incredibly capable and that patient will be given one of the best nurses to try to save their life. Lynn is accountable for her work and prides herself on never lowering her bar or standards of care in the CCU. Lynn holds others accountable as well, knowing that the patient is at the center of the care.
Lynn builds respect and integrity when she precepts new nurses, as well as leads when in charge of the unit. Lynn's teamwork is top-notch, and many know that she will be right by their side during emergent or crisis situations. Lynn will never leave a coworker behind when it comes to getting the job done. Lynn ensures that her patients are squared away before leaving her shift and checks with her coworkers that they are as well, before clocking out.
When Lynn responds to codes or rapids in the hospital, she also has a natural ability to teach the nurses while she is carrying out the rapid or the code, thereby involving them and assisting their familiarity and comfortability in that situation—that is amazing teamwork!

If I were a patient in the Sussex CCU, I would want Lynn Oliver to be my nurse because I know that I would receive the absolute best care, no stone would be unturned, I would have the best chance for survival, no chance for infection, and the best skin because she would see to it!
From the Milford Memorial Hospital to moving to the Sussex Campus, working entirely through COVID, a multitude of changes over the many years, Lynn has weathered every storm, outlasting many bedside nurses who have come and gone in Critical Care. All the while, Lynn continues to contribute her knowledge, experience, strong work ethic, high standards of care, and downright grit and gumption—all of which make her a phenomenal nurse.
Lynn has not only given so many years of her life to Bayhealth and the Critical Care Unit, but she has also given her expertise, her “no quit” “let’s do this” motivating attitude, and most importantly, her heart in all that she does.
