From the very first time I worked with her, she has shown superior skills in clinical work as a bedside nurse and managerial skills as a supervisor.
Marichu Brown is one of our clinical supervisors. I have known Miss Brown since 2004, when I came to Las Vegas as a new graduate of a neonatology fellowship. I met her at Valley Hospital, where she started as a nurse in 2004. When Valley Hospital NICU closed, she transferred to Spring Valley Hospital as one of our clinical supervisors.
From the very first time I worked with her, she has shown superior skills in clinical work as a bedside nurse and managerial skills as a supervisor. Her procedural skills in placing PICC lines are unmatched. She is the best in our unit, so we have to call her in difficult or emergency cases, even off her duty, to place those important IV access. Marichu dedicated herself to doing these procedures, even on her birthday or her son's graduation, as she is really dedicated to good and timely patient care.
We, doctors, have our utmost confidence when she is our clinical supervisor. Marichu is also involved in staff education, doing the CLABSI project, which is responsible for our very low CLABSI rate. She is also involved in NRP and STABLE education. She was the preceptor of almost all our new nurses for NICU practices. I am very proud to have worked with her for the last 11 years as we boast of best clinical outcomes for our patients.
I salute her dedication to the unit and our goals to give the best care for our patients. She is more than deserving of any accolades, as she is already in my hall of fame as the director of our unit.
