Sophia happened to be walking past my patient's room at the perfect time. I was in the middle of doing bath time on a patient, and I stopped Sophia just to ask her a quick question on how to properly do this patient's hair. Sophia stopped what she was doing and immediately jumped in to help.

She told me which products to use for my patient's ethnic hair and showed me how to brush out the knots without damaging her hair. Sophia spent a good bit of time helping to wash, condition, brush, and de-knot this patient's hair. When I asked Sophia what type of hairstyle would be most protective and best to do for this patient, as parents aren't able to come that often and she would be going to the OR on Tuesday for a very surgery, Sophia then took the time to finish the patient's hair and put it in beautiful twists for her big surgery.

Since Sophia took the time this morning to do this patient's hair, the patient has been the most smiley, happiest, little ray of sunshine the unit has ever seen. Thanks to Sophia and her kind heart, this patient is looking and feeling good for her big surgery day, and we couldn't be more grateful! If only I could attach a picture of the beautiful girl's big, cheesy smile.
