Betsy went back to Oncology, and with two other nurses, they called all the restaurants and fast-food places in Salem to see if anyone would duplicate the Shamrock Shake. Totally 80’s Ice Cream did.
My sister was an Oncology patient for almost two years. She had amazing nurses throughout the hospital with all her visits, procedures, and hospital stays. Betsy was the best. She took the time to sit and explain everything to her and whichever Aunt that was with her during visits. Betsy took the time to explain in terms we understood and always asked what else she could do for us or what we needed. My sister and the whole family had complete confidence and trust in Betsy.
When my sister was admitted to the hospital the last time before she passed away, we were told that there was nothing more that could be done and that it was in my sister’s best interest to be made hospice. Upon being made hospice, it was not long before Betsy came to the room to see my sister.
Betsy asked my sister what she could do for her or what she could get for her. Mind you, this was mid-October, and my sister said she wanted a McDonald’s Shamrock Shake (they are only around in March). Betsy went back to Oncology, and with two other nurses, they called all the restaurants and fast-food places in Salem to see if anyone would duplicate the Shamrock Shake. Totally 80’s Ice Cream did. The three of them brought it to my sister’s room. It made my sister’s day – she said it tasted just like McDonald’s. This was one of the last things that my sister had to eat or drink before she passed away.
Betsy is truly a very caring and compassionate person, and the hospital is very lucky to have her.
