When it comes to the loss of a loved one, we all know how difficult it can be to move forward and heal. But it’s a different sense of loss when we speak of a precious, small baby we are excited and hopeful for, and never get to take home. The L&D nurse nominated for this DAISY Award understood the devastation of this loss that her patient experienced. When she realized this mother had come into the hospital via EMS, having her clothing removed by paramedics during the emergent situation, she was informed that her patient no longer had her own clothes to return home. This nurse went above and beyond, showing compassion, empathy, and dignity - giving her patient the t-shirt she herself wore into work that day to go home in. Liz, you saw and took care of a heartbroken mother, and when you recognized a moment of need for something as small as clothing, you stepped in and literally gave her the shirt off your back. You are an amazing, kind, and generous person, and ILH is so grateful for the care and compassion you provide to our community each day.
