This nurse goes above and beyond for every patient she encounters. The patient who nominated this nurse remembered her from a previous admission.
The patient wrote, "As Leah entered the room to help, she was instantly relieved, just by her presence." The patient wanted to take a shower for several days but had been denied due to her constant telemetry monitoring. Well, Leah accommodated the patient by helping her take a shower. People may forget what you say and what you do, but they will always remember how you made them feel.
This patient suffers from high anxiety, and being able to take a hot shower helped relieve some of her anxiety. The patient wrote that Leah really "saved the day for me multiple times on multiple hospital stays."
A second nomination for Leah comes from Case Management. She assisted with an extremely challenging discharge. The patient and family could not manage the supplies needed to maintain BiPap. This was a huge barrier to safe discharge. Leah took control of the situation. Educating the patient and family regarding the settings, supplies, and managing the BiPap at home. She handled this discharge with competence and her usual kindness and grace.
PCU 51N knows how fortunate we are to have Leah Mohler on our Team.
